Industrial estate starts news sharing

01/10/2008

A business that runs a 70-strong industrial estate has set up a news web so companies can share ideas.

Daresbury Science & Innovation campus runs a tailor-made site for technology companies in Cheshire with good road, rail and air links.

Residents benefit from Daresbury's links to northwest universities and the Science and Technology Facilities Council.

Daresbury general manager John Leake said a news sharing site would help innovate companies on a daily basis.

"It seemed obvious we required not just a regular blog but a 'super-blog' to recreate that community online and communicates way beyond," he said.

Dubbed NewsHub, the sharing site would help companies swap ideas with organisations outside the estate, he added.

Each tenant will be able to write their own blog on the NewsHub, accessible at www.newshub.daresburysic.co.uk.

Prime minister Gordon Brown commended Daresbury in a speech, praising its "world-beating and path-breaking" research.
