Connectivity

Busy international airports, deep-sea port capacity, fast rail links, extensive motorway networks, far-reaching broadband internet coverage… the infrastructure of the Northwest offers exceptional global access for your clients, suppliers and logistical operations throughout the UK and beyond.

Manchester International Airport, recently voted best UK airport by Travel Bulletin magazine, is the largest British airport outside of London. With 200 direct flight destinations serviced by 100 airlines, the airport attracted 22 million passengers last year. Of course, Manchester isn't our only major flight hub - both Liverpool John Lennon Airport and Blackpool International Airport have expanded in recent times.

Our road network is one of the UK's finest, boasting 70% more motorways than the national average. The region's comprehensive road infrastructure is at the crossroads of the key North-South (M6) and East-West (M62/M56) motorway network, providing direct access to all British major cities within a four hour radius.

Train services provide another valuable asset. Recent modernisation of the West Coast main line has reduced the Manchester to London journey time to just over two hour, with over 39 trains per day. Europe's busiest intercity route, the line links the Northwest to London, Scotland and mainland Europe via the Channel Tunnel.

Meanwhile, the world-famous heritage of Liverpool's port is enjoying a renaissance, thanks to current work on a £19 million cruise liner facility at Pier head. The world's biggest liners will soon be able to dock along the waterfront.
