BBC director-general to address Liverpool business event

18/07/2008

It has been confirmed that Mark Thompson, the director-general of the BBC, will be the keynote speaker at Liverpool Chamber of Commerce's forthcoming annual dinner.

Taking place on November 20th at the BT Convention Centre, the dinner is likely to attract some of the biggest names in the UK media and creative sector, reports the Liverpool Daily Post.

At the start of the year, Mr Thompson attended the annual Television for the Nations and Regions conference at the Lowry Centre in Salford.

Jack Stopforth, chief executive of Liverpool Chamber, told the newspaper: "We are taking on a big job choosing a venue with 700 seats.

"The growing support the annual dinner has enjoyed in the previous years ... has demonstrated that there will be a great demand for this event."

In April, Liverpool's BT Convention Centre successfully hosted the British Chambers Convention.
