Financial Support
Financial assistance is available to eligible companies locating in England's Northwest as well as to some businesses already established here. At the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) we are aware of all of the available funding schemes in the region and can provide advice on eligibility as well as assistance in securing these.
The main source of funding relevant to inward investors is Selective Finance for Investment in England (SFIE) which is designed for businesses considering the possibility of investing in an Assisted Area. The level of grant support will vary depending on the location of the project. Most manufacturing businesses are eligible to apply, as are business in service industries that supply a national rather than local market.
Assistance is provided to:
- Launch a new business
- Expand/modernise/reorganise an existing business
- Upgrade a business, introducing technological or other innovatory improvements into the business process
- Set up research and development facilities
- Enable businesses to take the next step from development to production
